My Creative Month – April/May 2016

Bullet Journal

Although I just started with it, the Bullet Journal concept invaded my whole life by and by in under two months. I find that it makes me so much more productive and well organized; and on top of that also feeling like I get so much more done.

I’m still working on my set-up and trying to break old habits of using up as little space as possible. I’d like to give it more room and be a little more creative, especially in my daily planning, because I know that this will keep me doing it in the long run.

This is how the Bullet Journal has taken over: Continue reading

Spring Craft 2016

Spring is keeping us waiting a while longer where I live, although there were a few warm days between all the cold and rainy ones. In anticipation of warm and sunny weather, and because I had so much fun with this last year, I decided to do some more spring crafting.

In 2015, I made this cheerful company consisting of a sheep, a ladybug, a sun, and a frog.

This year, I added 4 more motifs to my collection.

As I found it very suitable last time, I used 135 grams paper in various different colors. For these projects you’ll need: darker and lighter brown (or beige), red, white, black, yellow, darker and lighter green.

Discovering the Bullet Journal

Toward the end of March, I discovered Bullet Journaling. I had never heard of the concept before until I stumbled across a recommended YouTube video. Don’t you find it scary too how well that little imp can, sometimes, guess what we are going to love?

I have been trying it out since and can say: I really do love it. It filled a void I’ve been latently aware of for a while but never took the time to deliberately tackle. When I saw the Bullet Journal, I instantly knew that this might be something.

Organizing Hair Accessories

I don’t own a lot of hair accessories, really, since a) my hair is very thin and unwilling to be styled in any notable way, and b) I’m mostly too lazy to do much with my hair anyway.

However, part of this laziness was that I had no proper way of storing my hair accessories and they were always hidden away in some bag in a drawer. Out of sight, out of mind, isn’t that what they say?

The frustration with my storage method—or rather lack thereof—grew so strong in March that I set out to find a better way.

My Creative Month – February/March 2016

February

After somewhat of a creative hiatus in December and January, I used my 2-week vacation in February to get back on track and back into writing on a more regular basis.

I hadn’t even realized before how much I needed this downtime away from a busy life and every-day obligations. It really helps to be someplace else to get your head free.

Happy Anniversary, Year 3

I love dates for celebration! 😉 Today is another one: The day my blog went online 3 years ago. Amazing how time flies!

As usual, I’d like to use this day to look back at the previous blogging year and ahead to what I’m planning. Continue reading

Valentine’s Day: Cake Hearts

Valentine’s Day is another one of these days (next to Halloween) that is not actually a public holiday but I think should be one. I think it’s very important and a lot of fun.

An old saying proclaims that “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.” So why not cook or bake up something lovely for our loved ones?

For a lovely twoesome over coffee and cake, these heart-shaped fudge cup cakes make a nice addition! Continue reading

My Creative Month – December 2015/January 2016

December and January were again so busy with work and preparations for my course that I hardly had time for being creative, let alone write about it.

DIY Jewelry

I can’t really take credit for this. I’d seen this DIY jewelry at craft fairs a couple of times before and finally thought I’d give it a try. I chose the parts and how to combine them, but I’m not made for this fiddly work, so my boyfriend heroically jumped in and did it for me real quick.

They look really nice, but I’m sure I won’t try that again anytime soon.

Decorating for Christmas

One big thing in December, of course, was Christmas decoration.

I bought a round glass vase and filled it with all kinds of Christmas stuff: a chain of lights, angel hair, Christmas tree ball ornaments etc.

I needed two tries until I liked the result, but now I think it turned out really nice:

I also got a tree-shaped Christmas plate. Whoever said plates have to be round… 😉

And those tree-shaped Christmas lights I already got last year but I still love them…

New Recipe for December

I had a package of low fat curd cheese left and was looking for a recipe to use it up. The almonds I replaced with chocolate flakes. A very good recipe that I’ll definitely add to my collection.

Photo Books

I finished my photo book for the year 2015 and started one for a weekend trip we took shortly before Christmas…

For the 2015 book I tried out a new format, this time a quadratic one. I haven’t had them printed yet, so I’m excited to see how this turns out in real life…

As you can see, I’m still into full images on one page.

Organizing

I made some significant progress in organizing my room and supplies. There’s still a lot to do, but some progress at last!

A New Creative Year 2016

2015 is coming to an end. The transition between years is always a good opportunity to reflect on and evaluate things past and to plan for things to come.

In this spirit, I’d like to revisit last year’s resolutions and maybe make a couple of new ones for the upcoming year. Continue reading
